Driven by innovation and excellence, we are shaping the future of nickel mining to empower the world's transition to sustainable energy
Sampala Project Overview
The Sampala Project is a strategic nickel mining initiative under Nickel Industries Limited, committed to supporting the global transition to clean and sustainable energy. Located in Desa Le-Le, Bahodopi, within the Morowali district of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, the project comprises three contiguous nickel concessions— PT Mandiri Jaya Nickel (MJN), PT Erabaru Timur Lestari (ETL), and CV Gita Flora (GF)—with a combined area of 6,654 hectares.
Located approximately 36.9 kilometers from the Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP), the Sampala Project benefits from close proximity to Nickel Industries' existing rotary kiln electric furnace (RKEF) and high-pressure acid leach (HPAL) operations, facilitating efficient integration into downstream processing activities.
As of the latest assessments, the project boasts an initial JORC-compliant Mineral Resource of 187 million dry metric tonnes (dmt) at an average grade of 1.2% nickel and 0.09% cobalt, equating to approximately 2.3 million tonnes of contained nickel and 0.2 million tonnes of cobalt . Notably, this resource estimate is based on exploration of just 900 hectares, representing a fraction of the total project area.
Ongoing exploration efforts have identified an Exploration Target ranging from 350 million dmt to 700 million dmt, with nickel grades between 0.9% and 1.1%, underscoring the project's potential to become one of the world's largest nickel deposits.
The development of the Sampala Project is poised to enhance Nickel Industries' self-sufficiency in nickel ore supply, ensuring greater traceability and sustainability in its operations. With a steadfast commitment to environmental stewardship, technological innovation, and community engagement, the Sampala Project aims to set a benchmark for responsible and modern mining practices in Indonesia and beyond.
What We Do
"At the Sampala Project, we are driven by a culture of innovation and operational excellence, with an unwavering commitment to safety and sustainable development in every aspect of our mining activities."
EXPLORATION
Danmar Exploration is entrusted with executing detailed exploration drilling programs to map out and define the nickel ore body.
Through precise drilling and sampling, Danmar helps ensure the project's geological confidence and supports the development of a robust mining plan.
MHR & BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION
STM (Sinar Terang Mandiri) is entrusted with the construction of the Main Hauling Road (MHR)—a strategic infrastructure component that will serve as a primary route for the transportation of ore and construction materials across the Sampala Project area. This project is essential to operational access and readiness across the mining site.
SUPPORT FACILITIES CONSTRUCTION
The infrastructure development at Sampala Project includes the foundational elements required to support both construction and long-term operations.
